A customer called and said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMy sliding glass door is a little hard to open. I think it just needs a small adjustment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This door had apparently decided it was no longer a sliding door. It had officially become a wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I asked the customer how long it had been like this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said, \u201cMaybe six months.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then his wife yelled from the kitchen:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSix months?! It\u2019s been almost two years!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now we were getting somewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apparently, over the last two years, the family had developed their own special technique for opening the door. One person would pull the handle while another person pushed the frame from the other side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Opening the patio door had basically become a two-person workout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It rolled smoothly across the track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The customer stared at it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He opened it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Closed it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Opened it again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then he called his wife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHoney! Come look at this!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She walked over and opened the door with one finger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She looked at her husband and said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He looked at me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I looked at him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We both knew there was no safe answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
